Donkey Kong country returns review

30 Nov

well, much like Kirby’s epic yarn, this game was overhyped and overrated.

a few days ago i got to try donkey kong country… and i wasnt all that impressed, sure the graphics are nice and colorful, and the levels looked great, it’s just, not that fun… at least the box art is awesome

The graphics were nice and colorful, lush and detailed… but as time goes by you’ll be wondering why it wasn’t on gamecube, yes, i know the Wii isn’t a graphical powerhouse, but even still, look at sonic colors, Mario galaxy, and monster hunter tri. 7/10

this is where the game fails in my opinion, the game is just to slow, yes i know this is coming from a sonic fan, but even Mario is faster than this, you’ll get a few great levels among a slew of okay and meh levels, but rarely does it ever amaze you with its gameplay.

I actually enjoyed this, the soundtrack was mainly remixes of old DK games, and i thought that it suited this game very well.

what replayability? after you finish the game you probably wont be coming back again unless you want to show your friends or something.
there are collectibles, but that hardly warrants another run.

Overall: 6/10 Passable

While it is about 20 bazillion times better than the last DK game
you wont be missing much if you do decide to skip this game, but if you want a really good retro remake, i would suggest picking up new super mario bros wii. while there are some fun moments in DCCR, they are few and far between, so unless you are a huge DK fan, i would skip this one.

Shoppers bought alot of nintendo consoles this weekend

29 Nov

When confronted with a wide range of Black Friday retail options, U.S. holiday shoppers again turned to Nintendo. Nintendo sold 900,000 combined units in the Nintendo DS™ family of systems and 600,000 Wii™ consoles between Sunday, Nov. 21, and Saturday, Nov. 27, according to the company’s internal sales estimates.

“U.S. shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems nonstop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”

hmmmm…. well, hopefully the money generated by this outbreak in sales will be used to kill off friend codes :P

Why are developers afraid of hard games?

27 Nov

For all the bravado and maturity put forth by “hardcore” games like Call of Duty: Black Ops, Red Dead Redemption and the like, they aren’t very, well, they aren’t very hard, are they?

Enjoyable to a lot of people, yes, and certainly pretty to look at, but the scripted events, single button press “quick time actions,” linear “you shall go from point A to point B and like it” progressions and bloody headshots have beguiled us into thinking that these are the truly badass games. They aren’t. They coddle us with their invisible walls and staged “ah ha” moments. More often than not they trade true difficulty for “how many hours is it?” That’s sad.

Don’t Forget gamers, super meat boy is out this holiday season on wii and psn, and you can get it now on XBLA!

Im making a game!

(fear not fanboys i have no hate on the ps3, i have hate on trolls)

Yesterday i purchased sonic colors, and anyone who owns a wii and likes platformers or high speed should have this game.

I managed to beat the story in just under 8 hours, and, it doesn’t disappoint, the cutscene i posted earlier was about the worst of it, but looking back on my progress, i have a long way to go :P

the gameplay is supersmooth, never dropping framerate even when the screen is filled with enemies or explosions, even during one boss when you are chasing a giant battleship through space tearing it apart piece by piece, and it drops its tanks of (spoilers) and they fall to the planet below, and the machine guns are firing on full blast as you whip past them and clobber the search lights or rocket launchers in a spectacular display with parts of metal and machinery fly off in every direction. the animation is spectacular too, really making you feel engrossed.

its fast fun and one of the best looking games on wii!

the wisps are fun too, i had fun with all of them, i didnt think i’d like the spike wisp but that was fun too!

this game is a challenge however, even on level 1 you will die, this game was made for sonic junkies and persistent gamers, i found some of its parts hard, and im like the sonic master (jk)…

i honestly cannot think of anything i did not enjoy about this title…

so if you you like a challenge an beatiful graphics, pick this one up,
if you dont, suck it up and pick this one up…

sonic colors recieves a 10/10
